About this art: I was following Alex Tedrow’s “Within Color’s Reach.” The title of the work is very obviously symbolized in my drawing, with the astronaut reaching towards the colorful beyond. The space theme was inspired by the endless continuum of Alex’s piece, which reminded me of washes of color without defined shapes. The astronaut is reaching out of their own darkness into the beautiful unknown, and the reflection in their helmet represents the inner ~change~ they feel. I also added glitter because this was the first time I was drawing in years and I forgot to account for the stars when I started. While photographing my work, my cat Noodle really wanted to be involved. In fact he was involved in the drawing process, having lots of fun swatting at the funny smelling pencils. Then he started pawing at the drawing and seemingly posed to look the astronaut directly in the eye... so, The Astronaut encounters Space Cat.
About Monet Takeda: I’m Monet and despite my name I only sometimes do visual art. Noodle is my coartist and quarantine buddy.
