About this art: This vocal work is a short improvisatory commentary on wanting to connect with others. Everyone has a personal story that is unique to them, and through learning each others "forms" we are able to understand one another and the world better.
About Lauren Jewell: Lauren Jewell is a compassionate educator, vocalist, and conductor. Studying Choral Music Education, she tries to fill her time showing others the joy of music. In 2019, Lauren became the Vice President of the IU chapter of the American Choral Directors Association after serving as a board member for the past two years. Additionally, she is part of Student Representative Committee at Jacobs, a member of the NOTUS chamber ensemble and a manager at the IU Auditorium. In addition to her work in the IU community, Lauren is an assistant director for the IU Children’s Choir and a soloist at Trinity Episcopal Church. Besides being an active educator and performer, Lauren is passionate about conducting. She conducted in Oxford at the Cornish American Song Institute during the summer of 2019 and organized an ad hoc choir in January of 2020. Lauren hopes to expose others to new and varied styles of music throughout her career, particularly the music of contemporary female composers.
