About this art: Miniatures is inspired by the attached picture and captures my musical response to the idea of miniatures. A bit of an experiment, the track is a collection of other pieces, songs, ideas, and bits of music I've made, rendered in a 'miniature' form. While this potentially forces one to listen with greater scrutiny to catch the details one is used to having ready at hand–as one might with miniature art pieces–my aim instead was to turn these musical fragments into small, seemingly insignificant but also mysterious and intriguing objects–additions to an atmosphere, an existence which is largely about something else, potentially more mundane at first glance, and yet to allow these objects to affect this existence in unexpected ways. About Ábel M.G.E. : I'm a Hungarian-American composer of acoustic and electronic music, a photographer, videographer and digital visual artist. I often use the lens of other art forms as a reference for my process, arranging and manipulating blocks of music like an audio engineer and sonically emulating the relationship between focus and blur in photography, for example. Following in the footsteps of digital sampling, my music often switches between vastly different genres and patches together existing sounds and musical moments familiar to its listeners, constructing a narrative from their connotations.
